Nadech Kugimiya, nicknamed Barry, is a Thai actor, model, and singer. He was born on December 17, 1991, in Thailand and is of Thai-Austrian descent, but was adopted by his biological aunt.

Nadech started modeling at age 17 and debuted as an actor in 2010 with a leading role in the lakorn Ngao Rak Luang Jai. His popularity increased significantly after his role in Duangjai Akkanee where he co-starred with his long-time girlfriend Yaya Urassaya for the first time.

He has since starred in many popular dramas, including Game Rai Game Rak, The Crown Princess, and Koo Gum.

Nadech is one of the most popular actors in Thailand, and his work has earned him numerous awards and accolades, including being dubbed the “King of Presenters.”

Nadech co-stars with Kimberley Woltemas as Pittaya, an adopted son who works for the family company. Thae (Kimberley), the spoiled rich daughter demands a lot from Pittaya because she only sees him as a lowly servant.

Pittaya is tired of her spoiled and bullying ways and doesn’t give in easily when she demands things from him, which enrages Thae even more.

However, out of respect for his adopted father, he obeys Thae. But Pittaya would much rather hang out with his girlfriend, Ravee, who is sweet and kind.

When Pittaya refuses to marry Thae because he is dating Ravee, she becomes very angry and takes revenge on Ravee by pretending to be closer to him than actuality.

Depicting twins, Nadech plays the role of both Pran and Pranon (Non). Pran is the business mind behind the medical technology company while Non is taking care of patients in the rural country.

The story focuses mainly on Non who falls in love with Patarin (Taew Nataphon) when she returns home from a broken heart. Non offers to marry her if she would help him deceive his family and he will offer her a check to pay off the debts her ex accrued.

3. Tarm Ruk Keun Jai (Finding Love) 2015

Nadech and Mew Nittha co-star together in this Thai drama series set in the countryside. Nadech plays Singh, a farm owner in Northern Thailand. He receives an application from Noona (Mew) to work for him.

In truth, Noona is a young and rich girl from the city who finds out that her mother has lied to her for 15 years saying that her father died. Noona finds out where her father is located and moves up north to find her estranged father.

As Noona continues her search for her father at Singh’s farm, she and Singh start to fall for each other.

4. Likit Ruk Karm Duang Dao (My Love from Another Star) 2019

Adapted from the Korean version, Nadech plays Achira, an alien who came to earth for research but became stranded for 300 years after saving a woman.

With only 3 months left on his wait to return home, he meets Farada, the woman he saved 300 years ago. Will Achira make the decision to leave or stay with Farada?

5. Mon Ruk Nong Pak Ka Yan (To Me, It’s Simply You) 2021

Nadech’s role is Kiew, an Isaan villager who moved to the big city of Bangkok for work. When his girlfriend breaks up with him, Kiew decides to move back home.

He wants to sell his grandmother’s land, but Chompoo currently occupies the land and refuses to let him sell it. As Kiew and Chompoo farm together, Kiew starts to realize the worth of taking care of the land.

6. Duang Jai Akkanee (Akkanee’s Heart) 2010

Part 2 of the Addisuan Family series, Nadech is Fai, who has a quick temper and acts rashly but loves taking care of the family farm. Next door, Jeed (Yaya) also has a heart for agriculture and is put in charge of their family farm.

However the 2 families do not get along due to their parent’s history, so naturally, Fai and Jeed are enemies.

When Fai and Jeed have a personal misunderstanding and their family issues start rising, both of them will have to work together to save the farms.

Note: Nadech has a support role in the other 3 parts of the 4 Hearts of the Mountain series, but Duang Jai Akkanee is his story.

7. Game Rai Game Rak (Evil Game, Love Game) 2011

Nadech plays Saichon, an islander on Min Island, who finds an unconscious Fahlada (Yaya) on the beach. When she awakes, Fahlada realizes that she doesn’t remember who she is or where she came from.

Saichon renames her Nang Fah, meaning Angel, and they both fall in love with each other.

When Fahlada’s sister, Chompooprae, sees her picture in a magazine, she goes to take Fahlada back so that she can continue building her empire. In the midst of the chaos, Saichon gets shot and Fahlada loses her memories of her island life.

As the years pass, Saichon comes back from abroad to partner with Chompooprae. He meets her sister and realizes that it’s Fahlada, but she doesn’t remember who he is.

Possessive, angry, and hurt, Saichon tortures Fahlada.

8. Torranee Ni Nee Krai Krong (Who Does the Land Belong To) 2012

Nadech plays Athit who went to school for agriculture and was sent by his father to work at his grandmother Daeng’s farm.

Grandma Daeng doesn’t have any descendants who are interested in agriculture save for Athit, so she willingly accepts him to work her farm. Proving himself as a hard-working farmer, he soon becomes Grandma Daeng’s favorite grandchild.

As Athit works, he also deals with Darunee (Yaya), an adopted child of Grandma Daeng. Fearing that Athit will steal all of Grandma Daeng’s love, Darunee doesn’t like Athit very much.

As they continue growing and working together, Darunee finally understands the hard work that comes with farming. Will these 2 be able to run the farm together?

9. Roy Fun Tawan Duerd (Part 2: The Rising Sun) 2014

In part 2 of the series, Nadech plays Ryu who was arranged to marry a very young Mayumi (Yaya). Though he loved her, Ryu stayed away from Mayumi because he feared his enemies would target her.

In the 7 years they were apart, Mayumi grew up to be a strong and independent woman who was unaware of Ryu’s feelings for her since it seems like he had rejected her.

As Mayumi gains the attention of multiple men, Ryu begins to fear that he may lose her for good. When villains start to arise, Ryu seeks Mayumi again causing them to work together to be victorious.

Note: Nadech does play a support role in the first part of The Rising Sun series with Mario Maurer and Taew Nataphon, but part 2 is Ryu’s story.

Nadech and Yaya Urassaya both portray flawed humans in this Thai lakorn. Ramin (Nadech) is a playboy officer who does his job well but treats women poorly. Even though he has a girlfriend, he still flirts and sleeps with other women.

Petra (Yaya) is a beautiful superstar whom everyone adores, but she is actually arrogant and self-absorbed. When the heavens want to punish these two, Ramin and Petra switch bodies.

In the development of their characters, both Ramin and Petra start to understand each other, and eventually, love grows.

11. Likit Rak (The Crown Princess) 2018

The Crown Princess was a very popular Thai lakorn and increased Nadech’s ratings even more. He plays Lieutenant Davin, a navy officer based in Thailand.

When Princess Alice (Yaya Urassaya) is in danger of losing her life and jumps out to sea, Davin saves her and protects her from the people wanting to kill her for her crown.

As her country is unaware of who wants her dead, they plot to have Princess Alice marry Davin and live the commoner life in Thailand while the investigation occurs.

12. Lai Kinnaree (The Kinnaree Conspiracy) – Coming October 2022

In his this Thai drama release with his real-life girlfriend Yaya Urassaya, Nadech plays the role of Indra Ratchpakdee, a handsome police officer. Set in historical Thailand, this drama series is about the mystery of a dead man and his killer.

Lady Phuston’s (Yaya) father was a famous doctor who had left his knowledge to her before he died.

When an important French captain of a cargo ship mysteriously dies with the Kinnaree cloth on him, suspicions arise as to who could have murdered him.

Lady Phuston, along with Indra Ratchpakdee, and Monsieur Robert an important military diplomat, must investigate to find out the truth before the prosperous kingdom of Ayutthaya falls.

13. Koo Gum (Sunset at Chaopraya) 2013

Set during World War II, Nadech plays Japanese soldier Kobori. He is stationed at a base camp in Thailand near the mouth of the Chaopraya river where he meets and falls in love with Angsumalin, a Thai citizen.

Angsumalin hates all the Japanese for taking over her little neighborhood. Though set acts cold towards Kobori, he still shows her warmth and love.

When rumors start flying that they are involved, the government asks them to get married for the sake of the countries coming together.

As Kobori and Angsumalin navigate war, hatred, and interracial marriage, will their love overcome?

Note: This film has many adaptions from the novel including 2 series. My personal favorite is the 1988 version, where I first watched the Sunset at Chaopraya plotline.

14. Nakee 2 (The Serpent Queen 2) 2018

Nakee 2 is the sequel to the lakorn series (trailer) following Nadech’s character Pongprap and Yaya’s character Sroi.

Sroi lives in the Don Phai village and has always had faith in Jao Mae Nakee, the Serpent Queen. When deaths start piling up in her village, Pongprap is called to investigate.

He doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but coincidences keep pointing back to Sroi as Nakee’s medium. Pongprap and Sroi will continue their investigation into the villagers’ deaths.

15. Aii Con Lor Luang (The Con-Heartist) 2020

Nadech plays cunning con artist Tower, who is hired by Ina to con her cheating ex-boyfriend.

When Tower tries to con Ina, she catches him in the act. Instead of turning him into the police, Ina decides she’d like to hire Tower. Her ex-boyfriend had left her in debt and Ina wants to take revenge on him.

16. Ngao Rak Luang Jai (Love in the Shadow) 2010

In his debut film, Nadech’s role is Nawa, a rich, sweet, and kind gentleman. His cousin, Techit played by Mark Prin, is also rich but the complete opposite in personality: cold, arrogant, and prideful.

Nawa was sent to Ban Tor Fah to recover from a fencing accident where he meets Khaohom. She starts taking care of him and they start developing feelings for one another.

At the same time, Techit’s father pushes him to continue building a resort in the same area that Nawa’s father had previously refused to do, Ban Tor Fah. When Techit arrives, he tells Nawa that his father got into an accident, sending Nawa back home.

Techit starts working with Khaohom and treating her badly in hopes that she will leave Ban Tor Fah so he can build his father’s resort. As Techit continues, he realizes he’s starting to like her.

A love triangle forms and Khaohom will have to decide who she will marry, Nawa or Techit?
